Always thinking. Always dreaming.

  1. My Life (As of Now)

Updates to my life (none exciting):

    • Went out to K.C. Tea and Noodles tonight on East Ave. Food was horrendous. Will never go there again.
    • Checked out the local liquor store on East Ave. Found Blueberry wine made from Maine Blueberries. I’m enjoying a glass as we speak.

This weekend (actually all my weekends consists of lots of work). Here’s the goals for tomorrow:
    • Read and take notes on chapters 9 & 10 for Public Speaking.
    • Make slide content for chapter 12 for New Media Team Project.
    • Choose portfolio pieces, upload and write descriptions for them.
    • Have Ryan integrate my new beautiful Portfolio Gallery.
    • Write Press release for sticker contest.
    • Math homework. Oh yes, I need to do my truth tables for my 5th grade math class.

Oh, and Wegmans to shop – someone can only live on Cheerios and milk from the Dollar General for so long.

Tell me it will end soon!

  2. Public Speaking

Public speaking is going to be a very difficult class this quarter.

    Let’s face the facts:

    • I like to talk in front of an audience.
    • I hate coming up with a subject.
    • I can’t stand practicing 10-20 times before a speech.
    • I don’t like the idea of my class ripping me a new one and critiquing the way I hold my hand on my hip when I say a certain word.
    • I don’t like getting graded on speaking.
    • Improvement? Gosh I hope I do.

Okay, back to practicing my speech.

  3. The Middle School Effect

I’m currently taking a math class at the Greece Apollo Middle School on Wednesday nights as part of the MCC Extension Center Program. From 6-9:40 on Wednesdays, I sit in a 5th or 6th grade classroom, while learning math that could be done in my sleep. Glorious.

Tonight I found this quote posted in the classroom.

30 years from now it won’t matter what shoes you wore, how your hair looked or the jeans you bought. What will matter is what you learned and how you used it.

It’s so true – yet at the same time so sad. Putting myself back in the shoes of a 5th or 6th grader I would read this quote and think, “yeah right”. Back then, the shoes were everything, the hair had to be awesome and the jeans better have been flares. It was a popularity contest.

Now I’m in college. Sure, I care about my outside appearance, but Rochester has had its way with me. I am now an individual who cares more about dressing for warmth then for fashion. My shoes are what keep my feet warm. I don’t get my hair cut enough (it costs money), and my jeans are from Old Navy as is the majority of my clothes, because its cheap and I can buy everything in one swoop.

    Ah, how I’ve changed.

  4. Color #CC0033

I love to include an image with each post. It is quickly becoming ‘my thing’. So as the summer quickly comes to a close I have revamped my site with some new gorgeous colors. A friend had posted on his blog a link to www.colourlovers.com and I am so happy that I was able to check it out.

//// COLOURlovers:: a place to view, rate and review some lovely colours & palettes. the idea is to create a place of color inspiration where a designer of any sort can see new and lovely colours… find out what colors are hot, what work well in other uses… and simply make some love with colour.

    and . . . I LOVE it!

All of my classes are now over from MCC. So out of my hardest classes I got an A- in both Applied Calculus and Microeconomics and a B- in Financial Accounting. Not bad I say! Now that classes are over for the summer and my sister is back on Long Island from her visit to Rochester, I have a few weeks to do some part time Apple work and enjoy a taste of summer without mounds of work. Anyone have any suggestions for some good summer things to do?

And of course – in a few weeks Ryan and I will hit our one year anniversary. While it is not very significant in the long haul, it is a big stepping stone and we want to do something special besides just a “nice dinner”. What is there to do in Rochester that can be seen as a nice anniversary event?

Ciao. And enjoy the seagull straight from the beach in Rochester.

  5. Negligence is Key

When I’m busy, yes, I just don’t have time to post. A few months ago, I was really looking forward to having a relaxing summer. Without a full time job and only a part time job and summer classes to worry about I figured this would be a relaxing way to spend three months. Class in the morning and the rest of the day could be spent lounging by the pool, hanging out with friends and whatever else can be classified as just plain having fun.

Boy was I wrong. Summer school at MCC has been a lot of work. Five week compounded classes that are normally supposed to be fifteen weeks don’t live for much free time at all. I’m currently enrolled in an Applied Calculus class. I spend three hours in class, for four days a week (twelve hours), and then on average of three to six hours a night on homework (twenty four hours). Holy crap! Thirty six hours a week? Well, at least I know I have a work ethic.

Come next Thursday, Calculus is over. Thus, I can regain the next part of my summer. My sister will be coming up for a week and then I can concern myself with only my part time job and enjoying the company of friends.

What could be better than that?

Oh, and the random photo? Ryan and I made sushi a few weeks ago. It was tasty!
