Today marks the 5th birthday of Firefox. If you haven’t already please check out our amazing video and 5 years site and ways you can get involved.
Many of you are probably thinking it’s a bit ridiculous to be wishing a web browser a “happy birthday”. I’ve been giving this a lot of thought over the last few weeks. For most of us Firefox is more than a piece of software. It’s a living breathing organism, something that we can contribute to and make a difference with. In a world where the majority of companies care about profit margins and stock price, Mozilla and Firefox are different. We care about making the best product out there and pushing the web forward. And we care about doing all of this without closed doors and working in an environment where everyone can get involved.
Lately, being on this 5 year anniversary ride has made me a bit emotional. The first time I watched the 5 year video I got a bit teary eyed. Everyday I’m thankful to be able to interact with our amazing community whether it is conversing on IRC, through e-mail or interacting through our bi-weekly community marketing calls. I am constantly reminded that Mozilla is much more than a web browser. We are a group of people who care very deeply about the web, and without everyone’s hard support we could have never reached this 5 year milestone.
So without further ado, Happy 5th Birthday Firefox and to everyone that has helped make an impact, I love you and thank you.

Is this Irony to show Firefox 5th BD logo in Apple iPhone’s Safari browser?
Or maybe a message to Apple to open up it’s platform?
