Sarah Doherty

Always thinking. Always dreaming.

  1. Hawaiian April Vacation

From April 13 – 18, Ryan and I will be leaving behind our computers and going on our first vacation to Hawaii. We’ll be on the island Oahu, which is home to the infamous Wakiki Beach (where we are staying), Pearl Harbor as well as some of the “sets” of Lost and Jurassic Park.

I’m quite excited about the hotel we got. I found us a great condo overlooking the ocean in the heart of Wakiki that we will stay at. Be jealous!

  6. Rain Season

We’ve been getting a ton of rain lately. I can’t really say I enjoy it since the bulk of Californians don’t know how to drive in anything but sunny weather. I’m looking forward to summer and our perfect 70-80 degree days.

    I love this photo.

  12. Re-Wired Media Center

Ryan and I recently purchased a new 12-plug surge protector for our media center. I finally nudged Ryan tonight and we were able to rewire everything in under an hour. I’m very happy with the results — everything looks neater and I think we are pretty blessed to have so much technology at our disposal!

  14. 7 and 25 Things

Ryan Doherty tagged me in the ‘7 Things’ and Tracy Taylor, Tresa Oettinger, Mary Zavisza, Nicholas Severson, Toni Gauthier and Rebecca Friedlander tagged me in the ‘25 Things’

These surveys have picked up a lot of momentum around Facebook and various personal blogs.  I’ve been hit with both of these, which I find silly because in July 2007, Ryan had tagged me with an ‘8 Random Facts’ meme.  However silly these are I have to admit I do like learning more about people and I like to consider myself a pretty open book.

So if you would like to learn only 7 things about me, just read the top 7.  If you want to read 25, keep on going.

    Rules:
Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you.  (I’ll tag everyone through Facebook.)

    1. I don’t drink soda except for Virgil’s root beer and cream soda.
    2. Aidan is my first dog, ever.  My family never had one, probably due to the amount of work and my mom’s fear it would be schizophrenic like her past dog.  I kind of resent my parents for not giving the three of us this wonderful experience.  With that said, I love Aidan and I didn’t realize how much a dog could complete a family.
    3. I’ve started to go a little baby crazy.  The idea of having a child growing inside of me seems like the most wonderful thing in the world.  I know I’m not ready (financially or emotionally), but I look forward to that.
    4. I wish I had a better relationship with my brother.
    5. I am extremely cheap.  No matter how much money I have in the bank, I always see spending as an extremely bad thing and often refer to myself as “broke” even though that is far from the truth.
    6. I love reality television shows, yet will rarely (if ever) admit it. Some of my favorites are: The Real Housewives of Orange County/New York City/Atlanta, The Hills, The Girls Next Door, Flipping Out, Million Dollar Listing, Millionaire Matchmaker, The Rachel Zoe Project and pretty much anything else on Bravo.  I’m actually too embarrassed to watch these shows around Ryan and try to watch them when he is out of the house.
    7. Ryan and I have the same exact food and wine palette.  It’s kind of scary to have found someone that matches up exactly with me.  Our only difference is kiwi, but you will have to move over to his blog to learn more about that.
    8. I’m scared I’m falling out of love with Catholicism.  I love being a Roman Catholic, but I am fearful that it is less of who I am now.  This is the first time I am actually admitting this.
    9. I fractured my nose senior year of high school right before football homecoming.  We were practicing twist downs and I had a girl peg me in the nose with her fist.  I remember bleeding quarters to the bathroom and insisting that I was fine to drive home (which I wasn’t).  Due to my fractured nose, I swear I can feel weather patterns.
    10. I like people to think that I am a prolific book reader like I was during elementary, middle and high school.  However, the truth is I haven’t really finished more than 2 books since graduating college.  I think the amount of reading that I had to do in college killed something inside of me – I do read lots of blogs and magazines though.  I hope one day to get back into a book-nerd phase.
    11. I have an unhealthy fascination with Ursula from the Little Mermaid and Winnie the Pooh.  I can’t wait to have a baby so I can interior decorate and entire Classic Pooh bedroom and not come off as “that creepy woman”.
    12. I used to think that spending more than $15 for a haircut was repulsive and a colossal waste of money.  I think too many bad experiences at Super Cuts and random mall salons scarred me for life.  I decided to take a chance and now realize that you get what you pay for – and I’d rather pay good money to look good rather than sweating it out in a chair as someone butchers my cut with little to no skills of the English language.
    13. In middle school I got the brilliant idea that my eyeshadow should match with whatever shirt I was wearing.  Think lots of purple, light blue, green and hot pink eyeshadow.  I shudder to think what I looked like.
    14. I sometimes wish I would have gone through a fashion rebel phase.  I have always been a prep and to this day love shopping at GAP.
    15. I love living in California, but I miss my family like crazy.  I sometimes fantasize about what it would be like to pop on over to my parents house and have a casual family dinner and then go back to my house without a cross-country flight involved.
    16. I have a slight fear of escalators.  I always have to wait a few seconds and make sure that I can size up the steps before I go on them.  Ryan always asks me, “What are you waiting for?”
    17. I am horrible with math, but managed to get an A- in Calculus in college.  This was solely due to the fact that Ryan tutored me 3-4 hours a day, 4 days a week for the duration of the class.  If that isn’t testament enough for his love for me, I don’t know what is.
    18. I hate escargot.  I tried it on my honeymoon because I figured it was worth a shot at least once.  I couldn’t get over the texture and the thought that I had a dead snail in my mouth.
    19. I love the idea of drinking Cosmopolitans, but absolutely hate the taste.  Making a pucker face every time I take a sip should be a clue that I just don’t like it.
    20. I’m a technology geek.  I enjoy hacking AppleTV’s just as much as I like to curl up on the couch with a good chick flick.
    21. I choke sipping liquids at least twice a week.  At first Ryan would get worried and now he just laughs.  I’m convinced this is some kind of genetic issue because my sister does the same exact thing.
    22. I’m a self-proclaimed obsessive-compulsive perfectionist.  But most of you already know that about me.
    23. For a brief time in elementary school I sold string and lanyard by the foot to my peers.  I made quite a lot of money and always came home with a heavy bag of quarters.  I stopped out of fear when I found out that you could apparently get in trouble for selling anything on school property.
    24. Computer camp changed my life and I would not be the same person I am today without those years of friendships and experiences.
    25. I am a lean mean negotiating machine.  If you ever want a good price on a tangible item or need to rip into a company for an issue I’m your woman.
