Ryan and I are watching What Would Jesus Buy? on our Netflix Roku. A really good movie, and definitely gives you a lot to think about. What really made met think was five questions a debt manager said she puts on her business cards to hand out to clients:
I’m thinking about writing those questions on a tiny sheet of paper and sticking it in my wallet so every time I go shopping I can take a look at it. I definitely think it will stop me from consuming so much.
“Our prejudices arise from the fear of things we do not understand. If my generation has a single goal, it must be to promote education – education that advances us not only technologically, but also intuitively and emotionally. In today’s fast-paced world, advancing has to mean more than scientific discovery; it is our responsibility to force ourselves beyond our comfort zones and become knowledgeable about the people around us.”
– Jessica Arden Ettinger, Starbucks customer and student at the University of Virginia
Aidan graduated from puppy kindergarten last night, which means that he got to wear a pretty cool graduation hat and gown while the ‘parents’ took funny photos of him. Overall, puppy kindergarten was a great experience for all three of us. I’ve noticed a lot of improvements with Aidan and I think we have a lot of good tools to train him for awhile.
For anyone that knows me really well I am a huge Apartment Therapy fan. I was first introduced to them a few years back on their blog and then last year for my birthday Ryan bought me the book, Apartment Therapy: The Eight Step Home Cure which led to us purging more things in our apartment than I ever knew possible (great book by the way).
A few weeks ago I got into my head that I really wanted a shoe cubby so our shoes weren’t piled up and all unattractive looking. Finding a small shoe cubby is pretty impossible and we don’t have much space to work with. We fell in love with Crate and Barrel’s Windham storage bench and though it would look great in the space.
Of course if you know me well enough I don’t stop at one little thing. I also realized that our picture frame looked a little bit too small for the space so we purchased a black RIBBA frame to show off some of our wedding Trash the Dress photos.
I always tend to forget to take before and after pictures, but for some reason this time I remembered. I’m really happy with the way it turned out. Apartment Therapy preaches about the importance of having a landing strip in a home/apartment and I truly agree. Between our chalk board/key hanger and now the storage bench I think this area looks great and pretty homey to boot!
Ryan always lets me take great funny photos of him — I love this shot!
Ryan and I used to carve pumpkins every year but they molded so quickly and honestly never looked as good as I thought they should. Last year I started painting our pumpkins and they always come out much better. I have always loved Winnie the Pooh so this year I thought I would pay tribute to Pooh & Piglet. Enjoy!
