You wouldn’t think that in a few short weeks so much could change, but hey – it did! As many of you may know I have been on a hunt for my ‘perfect’ job. My ideal job involves working at a semi-large to large company (versus a small company or a startup) with a great group of people working in a project management capacity for creative marketing projects. Maybe some of you are scratching your head and thinking "huh? I thought you did creative stuff."
Although I am a creative person, my experience with New Media Team Project and working at other companies showed me that I really loved being a project manager and working to see projects through completion. More important than anything I need to communicate with people – I don’t want to be trapped in a cubicle staring at Photoshop/InDesign what have you for hours on end. I want to make things move. So on January 3rd and 4th I had the opportunity to interview with a great tech company (Seagate Technology) out in the Bay Area and as luck may have it – I got the job! I’ll be starting in my new position on 1/22 as a Marcom Project Manager.
Since I’ve been job hunting over the past few months, Ryan and I have stayed in our apartment at Avalon Blossom Hill in South San Jose. Now with the new job, we were able to quickly sign a lease and move into a new apartment at Avalon Campbell. It’s been quite a whirlwind week (in only 9 days we signed the lease, packed, scheduled movers, painted, unpacked and hung up all decorations in our new apartment). Woah!
Besides the job and new apartment not too much else to report. I’ve been keeping myself busy this week by trying to catch up on some doctor visits (aka dentist) since I’m not going to have as much free time now that I’ll be a working woman.
It’s only the third week in January and everything seems to be falling in place. So far I have a great new job, our friend Brock is coming to town in two weeks, and Ryan’s parents and sister Molly are visiting in a month.
Exciting!
