After buying our beautiful TV, Mac mini and other home entertainment goodies, Ryan and I have been contemplating purchasing a surround sound system. After looking around we fell in love with the Samsung HT-Q70 Five DVD 5.1 Channel Home Theater Audio System and after sitting on the decision for a few months I picked it up on a serious discount from Circuit City as a present for Ryan / alleluia Sarah has a job and survived the first week present.
Anyways, our SuperBowl party next weekend is going to seriously rock.
You know your live/work in California when you see an Emergency Toner Express van. Seriously, is there ever a ‘toner emergency’?
I sat down with Ryan and finally picked a hotel to stay at for a night in SF when Brock comes out to visit us in a few weeks. We’ll be staying at the SF Marriott Downtown on 4th Street right down in Union Square. The thing that excites me the most about this hotel is their lounge, ‘The View’ which has spectacular views of the city from the 39th floor.

I was bored tonight and I love playing around with Ryan’s digital camera so I decided to take some more photos of Oliver to show off his cuteness!
A few days ago Ryan and I headed out to one of my favorite stores – IKEA to purchase a few things for the apartment. In our new apartment the towel racks in the bathrooms are about 5-8" lower making a perfect spot available for hanging a picture frame. When we originally moved out to California I decorated each bathroom with distinct color palettes (for the guest bathroom blue and green and for the master bathroom red and orange).
With the help of iStockPhoto, some photo paper and my trusty photo printer I was able to print out some great photos to hang in the frames.
Here are the pictures of the frames below. The lighting wasn’t the best so excuse the color differences. I’ve also provided links to the photos I used on iStockPhoto.

You wouldn’t think that in a few short weeks so much could change, but hey – it did! As many of you may know I have been on a hunt for my ‘perfect’ job. My ideal job involves working at a semi-large to large company (versus a small company or a startup) with a great group of people working in a project management capacity for creative marketing projects. Maybe some of you are scratching your head and thinking "huh? I thought you did creative stuff."
Although I am a creative person, my experience with New Media Team Project and working at other companies showed me that I really loved being a project manager and working to see projects through completion. More important than anything I need to communicate with people – I don’t want to be trapped in a cubicle staring at Photoshop/InDesign what have you for hours on end. I want to make things move. So on January 3rd and 4th I had the opportunity to interview with a great tech company (Seagate Technology) out in the Bay Area and as luck may have it – I got the job! I’ll be starting in my new position on 1/22 as a Marcom Project Manager.
Since I’ve been job hunting over the past few months, Ryan and I have stayed in our apartment at Avalon Blossom Hill in South San Jose. Now with the new job, we were able to quickly sign a lease and move into a new apartment at Avalon Campbell. It’s been quite a whirlwind week (in only 9 days we signed the lease, packed, scheduled movers, painted, unpacked and hung up all decorations in our new apartment). Woah!
Besides the job and new apartment not too much else to report. I’ve been keeping myself busy this week by trying to catch up on some doctor visits (aka dentist) since I’m not going to have as much free time now that I’ll be a working woman.
It’s only the third week in January and everything seems to be falling in place. So far I have a great new job, our friend Brock is coming to town in two weeks, and Ryan’s parents and sister Molly are visiting in a month.
Exciting!
On New Years Eve Ryan and I brought a new little critter into our lives. Our black bear hamster’s name is Oliver and he is oh so cute!
Brock just nudged me online and said that I need to blog more. I do – I know I do but sometimes I feel like I am blogging more for my own amusement than for my readers – are you out there readers?
On New Years Eve Ryan and I spent a few minutes reminiscing the past year. Although I could look at it in a negative way the fact does remain that 2006 has been one of the busiest and most exciting years my life. Let’s have a rundown in chronological order.
I’m sure I forgot a few things that I did in 2006 but here are the basics. Now that I’ve successfully written what I’ve done I’m looking forward to pushing ahead with 2007. 2007 holds wedding planning, friends visiting us out here, me accepting and starting a career at a new company, Ryan and I moving (again) and who knows what else. Let’s make 2007 rock.
