  2. Trip to IKEA

This past Saturday, Ryan, Adam, Cheston and I woke up at the crack of dawn and were on the road by 5 AM on our one-day extravaganza trip to IKEA in Pittsburgh. We arrived at the Penske truck rental in Pittsburgh at a little after 9 AM, and got our huge 14-foot truck. Next was IKEA. IKEA has these great breakfast specials for either $0.99 or $1.99. We all got the $1.99 breakfast special which includes eggs, potatoes, Swedish pancakes, bacon and coffee. After breakfast, onward to look at the store models. We figured out all the funiture we were going to need. IKEA is really cool because you first go through their section of room models, write down what you want and their location. There is also a marketplace section for common small things (like flatware, bedding, etc…) The lower level on IKEA is the warehouse where you go and pick up all your furniture (in pieces).

Once we paid at IKEA we loaded up the car, and drove to Adam’s sisters house where we picked up the dining room table and chairs.

Setup most of the furniture in the apartment, only to realize that the bedframes we purchased were not functional because IKEA failed to tell us (or put signs up for that matter) that we were missing the DOKKA midbeam to hold up the beds. Good job IKEA.

All in all, the apartment looks great and we are well on our way to a good year.

Yes I just purchased a Malm bed only to realize that the DOKKA midbeam illustrated in the instruction pamphlet was not included.. that was kind of frustrating.. building something only to realize that a critical piece was missing.. ah well
