About

I’m a Long Island native, and a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, where the weather was dismal, the work was non-ending and snow was a four letter word. After college I relocated to the San Francisco Bay area to pursue my dream of living and breathing all things tech. After 4 years in California I moved to Santiago de Chile, where I reside today.
Santiago provides the perfect blend of many of my passions: a wonderful language, city living and an increasing exciting technology scene. If you would have told me a few years ago that I would be living in South America I probably would’ve laughed but I’m here now and couldn’t be happier!

While I am currently not looking for work, I am always open to hear about new opportunities (communications, marketing, engagement, events, social media and project management are my specialties) so if you think you have something that I will look feel free to drop me a message.
Currently my days are spent as the Director of Marketing for MonkeyContact as well as advising Tigabytes, First Tuesday Chile, Founder Institute Chile, taking Spanish classes, and spending quality time with my dog, Aidan and boyfriend, Rodrigo. I am a self-professed geek, I love traveling, trying new food, wine tasting, listening to music and meeting new people. Take a peek around the site and hopefully you like what you see.
About This Site
I originally purchased sarahfriedlander.com, the first domain name for this site in 2003 when Jay Discount, a good friend of mine, convinced me the need to create my own weblog with Movable Type. There were many things I wanted to get out of Movable Type at the time that left me very frustrated and lacking the knowledge and time to execute them properly. My site sat in a disarray until Spring of 2005 when I took Advanced Multimedia Publishing at RIT.
During the 10 week class two of our rather large projects was to make a blog and portfolio. I used Movable Type for both and the designated time that was given for the site development and creation allowed me to finally learn how to tweak Movable Type the way I wanted. Today the site is almost perfect. Some CSS errors needed to be tweaked for cross browser compatibility, but in general I was very happy with the site.
As of March 2008, I moved over to WordPress. Moving over to WordPress was a great way to take advantage of a system using PHP and MySQL (and stop having to constantly press ‘rebuild’) instead of MovableType commands (despite how easy they are to learn!) Moving over to WordPress allowed a bit of a redesign and gave with new HTML and CSS so it isn’t a hack job and is indeed, very good code.
Since 2008 this site has undergone many different color palette changes as well as a variety of additions and subtractions that are too miniscule to count. Currently my site is listed under a number of domains including: sarahfriedlander.com, sarahdoherty.net, sarah.cl and sarahinchile.com. Regardless of which domain brought you here I hope you enjoy it!
While visiting, feel free to browse around. If you would like to contact me, please do so!
